$YOM
The purpose of $YOM is to facilitate an efficient decentralized market for cloud gaming and optimize it for cost-efficiency and performance. We raised a crowd-fund in 2022 to build the initial version of the technology stack.
$YOM is automatically bought from the market by studios, brands and broadcasters in order to power their streams, thereby creating node rewards (via Proof-of-Gameplay) and upwards price pressure. This can either be done directly or indirectly by paying by card and automatic swaps.
Therefore, the best way to accrue more $YOM is by sharing your computer to the network and having it "work" for our partners. Your nodes can only perform "work" by owning a license and putting some stake in your node, thereby signaling to the network that your node is reliable.
Alternatively, you can accrue $YOM through fee harvesting via liquidity pools by allocating $YOM with another token to a liquidity pool provider such as Orca. However, $YOM does not represent shareholding or participation in any company or undertaking, nor will it entitle holders to any promise of dividends or investment returns.
Building Ecosystems
Contrary to most other tokens, $YOM is deflationary. It is impossible to mint more tokens and there are several burning mechanisms in place in the tokenomics of the nodes. This ensures that all stakeholders holding $YOM are incentivized by the usage of the infrastructure.
Since we lack a minting feature, the only way to incentivize our ecosystem of supply and demand is via our fixed pool of 90.000 $YOM. While the size of these programs may lead to centralization concerns from certain people, we believe this is the better approach over having an inflationary system where actors can arbitrarily mint more tokens.
With the EARN program we provide a minimum pay-out to self-hosted nodes in order to stimulate the decentralization and strength of the network. With the BUILD program we reimburse costs of studios and IP deploying content on the network.
