Platform

From a macro-technological perspective, the Metaverse is the assembly of multiple exciting new technologies: edge computing, blockchain, web technologies, peer-to-peer, AI and interfacing technologies like XR and motion capture. While all of these technologies have developed independently from each other, like pieces of a puzzle they converge in the Metaverse.
At YOM we deconstructed and re-synthesized these different technologies on their fundamental level so that when reassembled into a Layer 1 metaverse, can maximize value for all stakeholders in the YOM ecosystem. The underpinning design principles and results of this process are all presented in this chapter.

Value Proposition

The value proposition of YOM is to offer a peer-to-peer cloud infrastructure, dApp and SDK for Unreal Engine 5 to easily craft and deploy custom metaverse experiences at low costs, thereby providing access to new markets with existing expertise and better tools. The SDK allows creators to create custom Web3 experiences which can be easily deployed via dApp to the blockchain and (p2p) cloud and then streamed from any website. This allows creators to save on implementation costs and time while still having the versatility of creating anything using their own tools.
Additionally, the lack of interoperability between different metaverse solutions can make it difficult for agencies to create experiences that are accessible to a wide audience. These challenges are preventing creators from fully realizing the potential of the metaverse and providing the best possible experiences for themselves and/or their clients.
The unique selling points of YOM are the following:
Modular: deploy white-label metaverse experiences from your own or clients website and channels; accessible to any device.
Open: metaverse experiences can integrate with any external (eco)system (i.e. tokenized economies and real-time data streams).
Scalable: leverage the power of a peer-to-peer mesh of machines to deliver photorealistic quality on all devices at affordable rates.
Easy to use: SDK and dApp allow creators to deploy custom metaverse experiences using their existing Unreal Engine skills and tools.
Ownership: creators retain ownership and control over their content, allowing for true creativity and flexibility.
Sustainable: peer-to-peer infrastructure reduces hosting costs by a factor of 10x-50x, enabling more creators to access the metaverse
As an introduction, the simplest way to describe the platform is by explaining it from the perspective of the creator. From here, we can define the platform as a set of four distinct products:
In the subsequent chapters, we will go into slightly more technical language. Feel free to skip ahead to the tokenomics.
